Military Spouse Appreciation Day – May 6, 2011
Military Spouse Appreciation Day is the Friday before Mother’s Day; May 6, 2011. “The first Military Spouse Day was first celebrated in 1984 when then-President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the observance to honor the contributions of military spouses. The military now sets aside the Friday before Mother’s Day each year to pay tribute to the spouses who play a vital role in the nation’s defense.” (http://www.army.mil/spouse/) What are you going to do for our behind the scenes military-spouses; the wives and husbands of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coast guard? Get your community involved. Perhaps a community day down ‘central avenue’. Flowers for military spouses, massages, manicures, free-planners. Each participating store could…

Military Spouse Appreciation Day 2011 – Spotlight MilitaryAvenue Partners
Military Spouse Appreciation Day is the Friday before Mother’s Day, May 6th, 2011. It is a day to recognize the contributions of the Military Spouse to our US Military. At the heart of our Armed Forces, servicemembers’ spouses keep our military families on track. They balance family life, military life, and their careers all while supporting other military families and giving back to their communities. Many have served in uniform themselves and, understanding the obligations involved, can provide unparalleled support. They are pillars of strength in their families, often celebrating their children’s life milestones while the other parent is away. – Presidential Proclamation–Military Spouse Appreciation Day Want to know how…

Lions and Tigers and … Military Discounts at the zoo!
Part of a military family’s struggle to get acclimated to a new community is to know where to go to get off base or post. Any PCS (move), reintegration (the time home right after a deployment) or even a trip back to the old stomping-grounds to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles… requires family-time. What better way to spend time together then visiting a local reputable attraction. My own family is spread out and we took the time this weekend to meet in a central spot – Toledo, Ohio. Friday night the cousins (from 2 months old to 8 years old) had a great time together (there were a few pillow fights and some wonderful times in an indoor pool…
