“Pay, benefits make military towns affluent” – Are you tapping in?
Just in case you wondered about the impact of your local military-installation on your community… Rapidly rising pay and benefits in the armed forces have lifted many military towns into the ranks of the nation’s most affluent communities, a USA Today analysis finds. * According to the article on MilitaryTimes.com some of this new found affluence is from hazardous-duty incentives and combat pay in war zones. A Magical Experience
I vaguely remember my college business 101 classes. It has been a few years after all, but certain bits and pieces have stuck with me. I DO remember studying Walt Disney and his ‘magical’ Disney World in Marketing 101; how the employees (ahem, Cast Members) were treated, how life was to feel transformed as you entered into a different world. We won’t miss the high gas prices, the Wall Street failures, the housing crisis, the political hype or watching some of the arrogant Corporate CEOs/Executives walk off with millions while their businesses fail. In the meantime, small businesses, homeowners and average Americans see economic crisis and a serious impact to their standard of living. What should a small business do when faced with customers who are not spending as much due to factors such as reduced income, credit limits, etc? Many must reduce budgets to stay open and not…

By the Numbers: Supporting the Military Community
The holidays are upon us … and there are US military members and families spread throughout the US and the world. My family of five will be separated this year as my husband serves our US Army in the Iraqi Theatre. This Christmas will not be the same as those in the past. But I realize it isn’t just my family. The nature of the military requires countless moves across the country and separation from loved ones. From the adults who miss their moms, dads, siblings, nieces & nephews to the children who over the holidays. It isn’t always feasible for cash-strapped newlyweds stationed in California to get home to…
